Posterior Fascial Line

Overview

The connected sheet of tissue running down the entire back of your body from head to heels.

Detailed Description

The posterior fascial line, closely related to the Superficial Back Line, describes the continuous fascial sheet running along the posterior aspect of the body. This includes the plantar fascia, Achilles tendon, gastrocnemius fascia, hamstring fascia, sacrotuberous ligament, thoracolumbar fascia, and cranial fascia.

In ELDOA practice, understanding the posterior fascial line explains why spinal positions affect the entire back body. When we create tension and space in the lumbar spine, that effect transmits through the fascial continuity to influence tissues from the feet to the head.

Restrictions in the posterior fascial line commonly manifest as limited forward bending, hamstring tightness, lower back pain, and tension headaches. ELDOA addresses these issues by improving tissue quality throughout the entire line rather than treating isolated segments.
